Hey, @discofish / shadrad on Twitter here. First of all, congrats on your first episode, and I’m really looking forward to the second!

    General thoughts:

    — I wish it was longer! Not just because I prefer longer-form podcasts (helps me focus on my work) but because you touched on so many subjects that I feel deserve really deep exploration and consideration. I’d love to hear you grind on those details, anecdotes, and personal experiences. Of course, that’s a lot more time commitment (and editing) on your part so I completely understand if the show doesn’t head in that direction.

    — It’s really interesting to hear where you guys are coming from because my journey is in the other direction– I’ve had lots of time doing creative pursuits on my own time to a point of general satisfaction (as in, I don’t feel lacking in creative direction or expression) but have only recently honed in on a direction and pursuit of my primary career (marketing strategy & planning). A lot of what you talked about reminds me of struggles I had early on when I was figuring out just what it is I ‘do’ as a creative person, and why I do it (“what’s my reward for all this work that I don’t -have- to do?”), so I’m really interested to see if you eventually reach the same conclusions I have.

    — While you focused a lot on ‘why are we pursuing creativity’ in this episode, I’d really like to hear you guys talk about the times you’re -not- driven to create; the times you want to, but struggle to muster the energy/focus– or, if you’re like me, you’re halfway through a project and then something new and interesting catches your attention and it’s SUPER HARD to keep focusing on your current work– especially when it’s not something with a deadline/you’re being paid for/really HAVE to keep working on if you don’t want to.

Above all else, it’s very gratifying to listen to people discuss and pontificate over subjects that I think about a lot. So thank you for that!

    Hey Shad!

Thanks for the comments! Glad to hear you are enjoying it. The podcast is definitely a work in progress and we are addressing a number of things. So, to answer your questions:

1- We are trying to keep each episode tight and focused. We found that if they go over 30 minutes or so that sometimes we can go down a path that leads to rambling. But that being said, we will judge each episode’s topic and if one requires a more lengthy discussion then we will for sure extend it. Also, we plan to expand on some topics further in separate podcasts.

2- Interesting to hear your struggles too! We wanted the first episode to be welcoming to creatives struggling at all levels, but we definitely plan on elaborating on specific struggles each of us have in upcoming episodes.

3- Hah, I hear you… keeping interest in the current project is definitely hard because there are always other projects vying for your attention. This is also a big topic for us that we will be discussing in more detail in a future podcast.

    Thanks for the feedback!
